Chelsea have finalised a deal to sign Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.

An agreement has been reached for the 29-year-old Spanish left back for a fee believed to be around £16.3m, plus add-ons.

According to reports, Chavarria is scheduled to travel to London this week to undergo a formal medical examination before officially putting pen to paper.

His arrival follows a string of major summer signings for Chelsea, who have already secured the likes of Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, and Valentin Barco ahead of the new campaign.

Chavarria will provide crucial depth and experience on the left side of the defence.

The Blues began their Premier League season on Monday evening with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, where goals from Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers, and Cole Palmer secured the three points for the visitors.

The addition of another defender highlights the ambition of the club to compete across all competitions this year.
