Wenger's dig at Blues is a red herring

It is a shame that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United find themselves in transfer limbo.

Foor old Arsene Wenger is bleating on about how difficult he is finding it to sign players of the calibre of Shaun Wright-Phillips.

He claims that his side cannot attract top players until Chelsea have decided if they want to sign the player or not

The Arsenal boss laments: "We have to wait until Chelsea decide if they want this player or that. Since we cannot afford to buy the player at the same rate as Chelsea or afford the same wages they can.
"There is one rate for Chelsea and another for the rest of us," he moans.

Yes, Arsene, you are correct, in theory.

But Both side have only bought one player of note this summer.

Chelsea's refusal to sanction above rate bids, should make Arsenal and the rest realise that their transfer policy should not be dictated by Chelsea's.
Selling clubs may like to think they can get more from Chelsea, but reality is something different.

Wenger is simply throwing out a red herring to his supporters to explain away their own inability to attract top players.
