Uncle Ken Speaks Out

Our friend and Chairman Mr Bates, spoke yesterday of the sacking of Mark Bosnich, stating the whole sorry incident had been a tragedy for the club and for the player.

The Australian goalkeeper had told the told the Premier League tribunal that Chelsea had acted improperly in the way in which they dismissed him following his positive drugs test for cocaine in November last year. However the Premier League tribunal decided on Tuesday, to favour with the views of Chelsea Football Club.

Following this ruling, Ken Bates has spoken of the regrets of all parties concerned - but that the 31-year-old Australian is ultimately responsible for his own actions and must pay the price.

He said: "This whole case is a tragedy from everyone's point of view and so unnecessary. At the end of the day, Mark is in control of his own body and how he behaves."

Meanwhile, Bates labelled Charlton's attempts to replay their Premiership fixture at Stamford Bridge as stupid.

He said: "I can't believe the nonsense and work we have had to do because of this stupid complaint Charlton have made.

"We've got a thick file backed up by video evidence which will demonstrate Charlton have talked a load of rubbish about this."

You can always rely on Uncle Ken to speak his mind and, more often than not – the truth.
