Thomas Tuchel 'interested' in taking over as England manager

Thomas Tuchel would be interested in replacing Gareth Southgate as England manager after the World Cup.

The German coach is currently without a job after being somewhat surprisingly sacked by Chelsea just six games into the 2022/23 campaign.

It was widely expected that his next managerial role will be with another of Europe's top clubs, with the German linked to Juventus for instance. However, according to The Telegraph, he could instead enter the world of international management, and not with his home country.

According to their report, Tuchel be interested in taking over as England manager after the World Cup if the position became available.

It has been speculated that Gareth Southgate's time in charge will come to an end once the tournament is over, despite the fact that his contract lasts until 2024 and his defiance on the issue.

Tuchel would undoubtedly be a top candidate if the FA were willing to appoint a foreign coach, standing as one of the best currently available on top of seemingly being open to taking the job.

He's already turned down approaches from two clubs in England and one from Spain and is 'waiting for the right opportunity to arrive'.

The England job could well be that opportunity with him happy living in the country, though he'll have to leave soon if he doesn't get a new role due to visa matters.
