Sauxy, now a part of Gordon Strachan's Southampton, reckons that the guys who got us where we are this season deserve a proper chance in the first team this year. He said "It's a tough one because the negative press Chelsea have had is more down to the fact that the money has be spent so quickly.

"The team that was, I think, very successful last season with a very limited budget has been ripped apart within a month. It's a shame because I think players who have helped the club get there deserve an opportunity to continue the progress they made last season.

"It's quite difficult for me, really, to be 100% honest because I'm still fresh from playing there. Anything I say positive would maybe make people think I didn't want to leave, and if I say anything negative, people would say I'm bitter and twisted.

"Like everybody, I will watch the situation with interest. It's almost like a footballing experiment, isn't it? Do pounds win over a team being built up over a period of time? We'll only find out at the end of the season."
