Roma are considering a double swoop to reunite Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tottenham's Harry Winks with Jose Mourinho in January.
After a solid start, Mourinho's side have faltered more recently with a pair of shocking results against minnow Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League group stage emphasising the Giallorossi's lack of squad depth.
Roma lost the first game 6-1 in Norway, before they stumbled to a 2-2 draw in the Italian capital on Thursday - where Mourinho fielded near enough a full-strength XI.
Recent domestic results have been shaky too. Roma fell to defeats against Juventus and Milan in October and also drew with table-topping Napoli to leave them 12 points off the pace of the Serie A summit in fourth place.
According to Corriere dello Sport, due to their stuttering form the club are willing to back Mourinho in the January transfer market. Two names on their list of potential recruits are Loftus-Cheek and Winks, though it is not stated whether they would seek permanent or loan moves.
Winks has struggled to nail down a place in the Spurs first team for some time now and is known to be considering his future. He turned down the chance to leave his boyhood club in the summer with Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton all interested.
However, after enjoying just 60 minutes of Premier League action so far this campaign, he is now ready for a loan move - if not a permanent deeparture.
It is harder to see Roma prying Loftus-Cheek away from Stamford Bridge. Considered a spare part at the beginning of the season following an underwhelming loan spell with Fulham, he has since forced his way into Thomas Tuchel's plans.
He is currently ahead of Saul Niguez in the pecking order and with Mateo Kovacic injured, he is likely to enjoy plenty of playing time over the coming weeks, making a January departure unlikely.
