Rob Styles Has No Shame

It's not been a good start to the season for Mr Styles. He came under fire from Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle for the penalty awarded against them at Birmingham. Come on Glenn, you know that breathing on Robbie Savage is dangerous foul play in this day and age! Surely you can't complain...

This same FA monkey, was put in charge of Chelsea's match against Leicester on Saturday. Yet, somehow, he managed to send off three players in as clean a game as I've seen in the Premiership for a long while (it has been a long summer).

Firstly, the Geremi sending off. Yes, it was two footed. But he kept low, won the ball and was in no way showing any malice. If that warrants a red card, we might as well make football a non contact sport- then we can give Sepp Blatter up at FIFA HQ what he really wants!

Rob Styles' interpretation of the incident: "'The Geremi incident was a two-footed challenge. He played both the ball and the man. All the referees and the clubs had a letter 18 months ago describing how referees would interpret two-footed tackles.

"If the ball is played and there's no contact with the player, it will be viewed as a reckless challenge and a yellow card. If the player plays both the ball and the man at the same time, then it's serious foul play because it endangers the safety of his opponent.

"Geremi played the ball with two feet and came off the ball and hit Riccardo Scimeca."

Mr Styles then sent off Alan Rodgers for kicking Jesper Gronkjaer when he was on the ground. No complaints from me about this one, clear cut red card there. Minutes later and Riccardo Scimeca was on his way for an early bath.

Two bookings, both of which were very harsh. The first was for a foul on Lampard, never a booking in my opinion. The second was for, what Mr Styles deemed, a mistimed tackle from behind on Joe Cole. Now, I'll admit that I was screaming for the guy to get sent off- from up in the stands it looked dirty.

Watching it on TV, from the refs view, you could quite clearly see Scimeca take the ball. Mr Styles didn't view it that way though.

However, despite my anger at Mr Styles, I must give him a bit of credit. At least he's publicly tried to explain his decisions- but who were you trying to convince Rob? Us, or yourself....
