Not For Sale

It has been widely thought in the media that we would have to sell players as soon as possible in order to please the major shareholders who have seen the club fall £97 million in debt.

Bates said, ""The Chelsea board discussed the issue of the club's finances and it was unanimous decision that we have no intention of selling any of our players.

"The only way we will sell is if we receive any good offers for some of our fringe players.

"Claudio Ranieri is very happy with the squad he has here and does not want to add to it or subtract from it at this time."

One of the players who has been linked away from the club is Eidur Gudjohnsen. Would he be considered a fringe player by Bates, especially since he has barely had a part to play in recent months?
