Claudio Ranieri's team are currently third in the Premiership and Melchiot is determined that Chelsea finish the season in a Champions League qualifying position.
He told the London Evening Standard: "Seeing teams like Arsenal and Newcastle playing Roma and Inter Milan gives us a big incentive to qualify for the Champions League next season.
"We'd all love to be going to places like Milan, Barcelona and Madrid every week to play, so if we can keep that thought in our sights it should drive us on and help us stick it out."
