And Real Madrid commercial director Emilio Butragueno revealed "We will miss Makelele if he leaves because he is a very good player, but I believe Real Madrid has the resources to fill any gap in the squad so I am not worried."
Does that mean that Chelsea will break the £100million in our summer spending?? Well, we could do a lot worse than signing Makelele- but do we really need him? Well, until Manu Petit or Geremi can prove they are consistent enough in the holding role, then Chelsea do need him.
