Lamps Backs Winter Break

Last updated : 29 March 2004 By Rich Godden
Lamps has missed just the one game this season in all competitions, despite the influx of new midfielders at he club in the last 9 months.

And he has revealed that he backs Sven Goran Eriksson's proposal for a winter break, saying: "It would just be refreshing at that stage of the season when you begin to get bogged down. It would refresh the players which would lead to more exciting games afterwards.

"We don't get much of a break in the summer these days compared with the past. In terms of England players who are playing regularly in the Premiership then I'm sure a rest would help that squad as well.

"It would give the players a bit of help, especially those who are playing internationals, Champions League and everything else."

Lamps will get a minor break this week after Sven rested him from England's game in Sweden on Wednesday...
