Frank Lampard captained England to a point in Brazil this evening.

The Chelsea midfielder, well until the end of this month, was in fine form for his country as he played his first match of this year's World Cup finals.

A 0-0 draw against Costa Rica meant that the traveling thousanda of England fans had a little bit to cheer following the debacle of defeats  against Italy and Uruguary.

Only Gary Cahill and ex-Cheless striker Sturridge remained from those two opening group games.

"We did ourselves justice," said a disappointed Lampard.

" I really enjoy playing for my country," he added. "It's hard to let go of."

Will this be Lampard's swansong as an England international?

I suspect so.
