Kurt Zouma expected to leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is expected to leave the club this summer, with Tottenham, Everton, Wolves and Roma among the suitors interested in securing a transfer.

Despite making 150 appearances in all competitions since joining Chelsea from Saint-Etienne in 2014, the Frenchman has regularly found himself in and out of the team - a story that was all too familiar last season.

Zouma has twice been sent out on loan during his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge - moving to Stoke in 2017 and then Everton the following year - and was afforded more Premier League starts in both his respective seasons away from west London than he's mustered in any of his campaigns with Chelsea.

The 26-year-old looked to be on his way to cementing his place in the first team under Frank Lampard, but the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as head coach in January - and subsequent return of Antonio Rudiger into the fold - saw Zouma again used sparingly for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

Now, French outlet Telefoot report that Zouma is expected to move on, while crediting a number of high profile clubs with an interest.

Wolves have already tried, and failed, to lure Zouma away from Stamford Bridge, while fellow Premier League duo Spurs and Everton are also monitoring his situation. There's also interest from Roma, now managed by Jose Mourinho, although any negotiations with the France international would need to come in the form of a loan move.

Whether Chelsea would be willing to sanction yet another temporary move away for Zouma remains to be seen, but given their rumoured transfer plans this summer it would be no surprise to see the club pursue selling on a permanent basis.

The Blues have spent big money over the past 12 months and after 90min exclusively revealed they're willing to shell out £150m on Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, there may be a need to move on some of their fringe players in a bid to balance the books.
