Jose Mourinho has moved to defend his Premier League record after being asked about his recent achievements in England during his unveiling as Roma's new manager.
The Portuguese tactician is one of the most decorated managers ever to grace the Premier League, having won three English crowns across two different spells with Chelsea.
Despite his glittering spells with the Blues, the 58-year-old failed to win the league title in both of his most recent managerial posts in England - having taken charge of Manchester United and Tottenham - yet Mourinho insists he's been a success at every Premier League club he's taken charge of.
"At my last three clubs I won the Premier League with Chelsea, I won three cups with Manchester United, I made it into the League Cup final with Tottenham," he told reporters (via Sky Sports).
"We finished 12th the year before and then we came sixth and qualified for the Europa League. What is considered a disaster for me is something that other coaches have never achieved in their lifetimes."
Mourinho was speaking at a press conference to officially unveil him as Paulo Fonseca's successor in the Italian capital, with the former United boss speaking of the pressures that come with being manager of a club with such passionate fans.
He added that it would take him some time to evaluate his Roma squad before deciding what changes need to be made, amid rumours that Granit Xhaka may be on the cusp of joining from Arsenal.
"There is a fantastic bond between Roma and the city and that brings a lot of responsibility with it and I feel that, but we are not here on holiday, we are here to work," he added. "The next challenge is always the most important, this is the next challenge so it is the most important.
"We are not going to change things when we are not yet aware of everything we have within the group. It is very important to get to know them."
