Jorginho's agent has put pressure on Chelsea to offer the Italy star a new contract, saying he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge, but could return to Napoli if his demands aren't met soon.
The 29-year-old has two years to run on his contract and won't be thinking about his future at club level for now as Italy get set for the final of Euro 2020. But back in his homeland, agent João Santos has been hard at work stirring the pot.
Jorginho has had a tremendous season, winning the Champions League with Chelsea before taking charge at the Euros. He scored the winning penalty against Spain to send Italy to the final, and while shouts that he could be in Ballon d'Or contention seem a little ambitious, he is in the form of his life.
And Santos, speaking on Radio CRC, was well aware of that.
"Jorginho won the Champions League and has now become a strong point in Italy too," he said. "He has earned everything on the pitch, sweating every victory, always giving his all on the pitch.
"He wants to extend his contract with the English club, but, if he cannot do it, he’ll think about returning to Serie A, perhaps at Napoli."
Speaking after Italy won their opening game of Euro 2020, Santos revealed that there had been 'enquiries' from some of the biggest sides in Europe. Do Napoli count as one of the biggest sides in Europe? We'll have to wait and see.
He told Radio Marte in June: "Jorginho is very well, he has won the Europa League and the Champions League, and now the goal is to win the Euros.
"He is focused on this and wants to play all the remaining seven games of the European Championship.
"Obviously, he won the Champions League, and therefore there are enquiries from the main teams in Europe."
