International Round Up

There will be a mixed bag of emotions at the next Chelsea get together. After a nail biting weekend for Claudio Ranieri, we look at how his multi-national squad did.....

Neither William Gallas nor Marcel Desailly were fit enough to help France to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Israel, to maintain their 100% Euro qualification record.

Eidur Gudjohnsen suffered his first defeat as captain of Iceland, allowing Scotland to sneak into the playoffs. He played the whole match, as Iceland lost 3-0 away to Germany.

Denmark eased into the Euro finals, with a 1-1 draw away to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Jesper Gronkjaer played 85 minutes.

Damien Duff was left dis-appointed as Ireland lost 2-0 away to Switzerland, allowing them to progress.

In case you haven't heard, England got what they needed away to Turkey, and won their group! John Terry was immense at the back with Sol Campbell, keeping a clean sheet. Even though England failed to score, despite a missed Beckham penalty, the 0-0 draw was enough to take them through. Frank Lampard came on in injury time.

In a international friendly, Adrian Mutu opened the scoring for Romania against Japan, in their 1-1 draw. Mutu's recent international scoring record is second to none, that his seventh goal in his last 6 internationals.

On loan Boudewijn Zenden was an unused substitute for Holland as they slaughtered Moldova 5-0.

Another on loan Chelsea star, Mikael Forssell, opened the scoring as Finland went three up in the first 20 minutes at home to Canada. They ended up winning 3-2.
