Graham Potter provides update on Conor Gallagher following early Brentford substitution

From Gtech Community Stadium - Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has revealed that Conor Gallagher was forced off with illness early on in their 0-0 draw at Brentford.

Gallagher lasted just 15 minutes during their west London derby with the Bees, with replays suggesting he grazed his knee in a collision with Ethan Pinnock.

However, speaking post-match, Potter insisted the problem was not to do with an injury.

"I haven't spoke to the doctors but he just felt ill. He thought he was going to be sick and you could see he wasn't quite himself, so hopefully it's just a 24 hour thing and he will be OK," Potter said.

Chelsea's shortages in midfield this season have been well-documented, with star man N'Golo Kante notably ruled out for the next four months after hamstring surgery.

Mateo Kovacic has continually battled with injury problems this season, while Juventus loanee Denis Zakaria has yet to play a minute since his deadline day arrival from Turin.

Potter threw on teenager Carney Chukwuemeka for the final half hour of their draw at Brentford, and while he carried the ball well in patches, he failed to have a meaningful impact on the game as the Blues' winning run came to an end.
