Gerrard No-Go

Despite being offered a chance to play at the very highest level by Chelsea, and make himself stinking rich in the process, Gerrard has decided that his near future lies at Anfield.

A statement from Liverpool and Gerrard read "Steven Gerrard has quashed all speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield by pledging his future to Liverpool Football Club.

"The news will come as a huge relief to Liverpudlians everywhere who feared the club was set to lose the services of their highly-influential captain.''

Both Peter Kenyon and Jose Mourinho had revealed their admiration for Gerrard during Euro 2004, sparking rumours that Liverpool would cash in on their £30 million talent.

So, was it purely Steven's decision to stay in Liverpool? Are newspaper reports suggesting that he is only staying after receiving death threats true? Or did Chelsea decide that Gerrard is just a tad over rated?

After all, this is the same guy who looked distinctly average at Euro 2004, when a certain Frank Lampard played out of his skin...
