Frank Lampard Reveals He Is a Man Of Superstition - And Fears Any Changes May Affect Chelsea Results

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has admitted that he believes not following his personal superstitions could see the club's results take a turn for the worse.

The 41-year-old has had a sensational start to life back at Stamford Bridge and is already regarded as one of the most exciting young managers in football, with Chelsea set to go into the international break as high as second if results go their way.

But Lampard, who was named as the Premier League's Manager of the Month, has admitted that he's subconsciously worried about results going against Chelsea if he stops certain routines like dog walking or cycling in the gym.

"I am superstitious. I was always as a player and I carry it into management," Lampard said, quoted by The Express"I have routines, like walking the dog, or what time I leave, or the boots I wear in training.

"Before training, I will walk Minnie at a certain time, on a certain route, on certain days. I go out early, down to the coffee shop, get my coffee, walk around, pick up Minnie’s poo, put it in the bin, walk her home then go to training.

"I walk her a lot - I find it good for clearing the head. And I have to spend the same amount of time on the bike in the gym - 50 minutes - as the amount that I run. I’m still sweating now. I’ve just been doing it.

"If I don’t do those things, then I can feel, ridiculously, as if it might effect the result."

Lampard's superstitions are so far paying off, however, as Chelsea's fantastic run of form has seen them cement their place in the top four.

The club are currently on a five-game winning fun in the league - only Hoffenheim, thanks to a 98th-minute winner against Köln on Friday, are also on a five game-winning run in Europe's top five leagues - and can extend that to six as Chelsea take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.
