Erling Haaland reacts to £150m price tag

Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland has joked that he does not believe he is worth the £150m needed to sign him this summer.

As first revealed by 90min, Chelsea are readying an enormous bid worth up to £150m to land the Norwegian this summer, despite Dortmund's repeated insistence that they will not humour bids for their most valuable asset.

A lot of fans have voiced concerns over that hefty price tag, and now, so has Haaland.

“I had a little chat with him today, actually," said Sky Germany's Jesco van Eichmann (via The Express). "He just passed by and asked me, ‘Hey, is there any news about me?’

“I said, ‘No, actually, no. Chelsea still at £150m.’ And he was smiling and said, ‘No, I’m not worth that'."

He followed that up soon after with another comment about his price tag, saying: “I haven't spoken to my advisor for a month. But I hope it's just rumours. €175m would be a lot of money for one person."

In the same interview, Haaland confessed he is in no urgent rush to leave Dortmund, where he believes he can still build on last season's DfB-Pokal triumph.

"First of all I have three years left on my contract," he said (via Sven Westerschulze). "I’m enjoying my time here. But of course the trophy was important because that's what I want.“

It's seen as 'unlikely' that Chelsea will end up with Haaland this summer, despite Roman Abramovich authorising an enormous bid worth twice the amount Dortmund would receive next summer, when Haaland's release clause becomes active.

Should they fail to land their top target, the Blues are interested in a whole host of top names, with Inter's Romelu Lukaku and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski both on the radar.
