Eidur Keen To Impress

Eidur grabbed the opening goal yesterday and played a big part in the second. and his all round performance wasn't too bad either, although both he and Mikael Forssell would have hoped for better.

Eidur said "I missed out last year and was always a step behind the other players. I did a lot of extra training during the summer and am feeling a lot sharper, a yard quicker and a bit leaner.

"I want to play every week and just have to take my chances. It's always nice to score, especially as a forward. As a striker you thrive on goals and have to try to stake your claim. We've always had lots of strikers and if you play in a big team there's bound to be competition for places.

"It's a big game on Sunday and there's a lot of expectation. Yesterday was a test but Liverpool will present a greater footballing challenge. We should do well but with new players it always takes a while.

"It might sound a bit cautious but with seven new players to fit in it will take time. I hope the fans don't expect fireworks straight away."

Well, Steve Gerrard and Graeme Le Saux aren't playing on Sunday, so any hopes that we had of fireworks are out the window.
