Stalwart Clarke who played for the club and has being Avram Grant and Jose Mourinho's right hand man in recent years as coach might well be demoted or sacked the cull which has claimed the job of Henk ten Cate.
Ten Cate was brought into Chelsea to be assistant manager to Grant seven months ago - he was sacked last week.
Chelsea's top brass may well be clearing the managerial desks to allow the new manager free rein to appoint and organise his staff as he sees fit.
They claimed yesterday that they have not approached anyone yet to replace Grant.
If that's the case then Clarke, who has 21-year association with the club might find himself packing his Chelsea training gear for the last time very soon.
