David Alaba's Stance on Premier League Move Amid Man City and Chelsea Interest

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba does not want to join Manchester City or Chelsea this summer, according to reports in Germany.

The Austrian defender secured an eighth straight Bundesliga title with Die Roten recently and his performances at centre-back played a key role in his side's late season success.

Despite this, Alaba is said to be considering his future. The defender's current deal expires in 2021 and, unsurprisingly, a number of heavyweight sides have been credited with an interest in signing him.

Alaba won the DFB Pokal recently, with Bayern defeating Bayer Leverkusen in the final

Chelsea and City are among the clubs who are keen, but according to BILD (via Bayern & Germany) Alaba has no intention of making a move to the Premier League. Despite previously working with Pep Guardiola during the Spaniard's time in Bavaria between 2013 and 2016, Barcelona and Real Madrid are his preferred locations.

With the Alaba deal off the table for now, the Premier League pair are likely to further ramp up their efforts to sign Leicester's Ben Chilwell.

Alaba's departure from the German champions is not certain as yet, however talks with Bayern over a new contract are currently at a standstill. The 28-year-old is demanding a salary of €20m per year which is more than the club are willing to offer.

Neither Real nor Barça are likely to have the funds to finance a move for the Champions League winner this summer, meaning he may have to lower his wage demands.

Alaba is not the only long-serving Bayern player whose future is uncertain. Thiago Alcantara has also been linked with a move away, with the club confirming that the midfielder wants to depart this summer.

Liverpool are thought to be interested though they are unlikely to submit an offer unless a high-profile member of Jurgen Klopp's squad departs Anfield. Thiago's house in Germany was recently put up for sale as he prepares to leave the country.
