Cole Compensation

Cole was set to spend this season on loan at Charlton as part of the deal that took Scott Parker to Stamford Bridge in January. But Cole refused to return to the Valley, choosing to join David O'Leary's Aston Villa.

As a result, Chelsea have had to pay out some compensation to the Addicks.

A Charlton statement read: "Following amicable discussions with Chelsea, we have today withdrawn our complaint to the FA Premier League regarding the circumstances surrounding the loan transfer of Carlton Cole to Charlton and associated issues."

"Chelsea have agreed a settlement with us which will not be disclosed, but is acceptable to both parties, and I now consider the matter to be closed."

Chelsea have officially denied reports that the amount was £1.5 million.
