Claudio For England?

Last updated : 05 March 2003 By Rich Godden
Despite his wacky antics, Claudio appears to have shaken off his critics and must now be ranked as one of the best loved managers in Britain. It would come as no surprise if he were to one day take on the job as England coach, although I hope it's not for a good few years yet!

Speaking in the Chelsea Village magazine, Cluadio was asked if he would like to manage Italy someday (his native country), to which he responded "I'd like one day to be the manager of an international team."

This prompted the question of 'could it be England?' to which Claudio responded: "Why not? There are a lot of good managers in England, though. My first choice is a good international team. I have lost my feeling of being Italian. I am a European. I am a fan of teams who play well."

I can only pray that Ulrika Johnson doesn't take a shine to all England coaches...
