Chistopher Vivell released from RB Leipzig contract; Chelsea talks ongoing

RB Leipzig have confirmed that Christopher Vivell has been removed from his position as technical director of the club with immediate effect.

Vivell is one of several candidates under consideration by new Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly, who is looking to revamp the club's recruitment department after operating as interim sporting director during his first summer in charge.

Boehly has held extensive discussions with numerous figures in Leipzig as part of his continued pursuit of Josko Gvardiol and Christopher Nkunku, and he is understood to have been impressed with Vivell's approach to business.

Now, sources have confirmed to 90min that Chelsea are prepared to step up their chase for Vivell after he was released from his contract with Leipzig.

"Christopher Vivell was released from his position as Technical Director yesterday, Thursday, with immediate effect due to differing views," a short Leipzig statement read.

Chelsea are understood to be keen to offer Vivell the position of technical director, while the Blues remain interested in hiring a separate sporting director to give their recruitment department a thorough revamp.
