Chelsea's New Realism

Last updated : 22 June 2002 By -
Ken Bates has recently commented on the "realism" that is surging through football and in particular, a new realism within Chelsea FC.

What is this new realism? What exactly does Ken mean? You tell me!

Does this confirm the strongly held belief that Chelsea are in financial trouble? Have we overstretched ourselves with excessive wage demands and too many players more interested in their pay packet rather than the performance of the team and the colour blue?

We, as Chelsea fans can now begin to understand the reasons behind a lack of summer signings and the withdrawal from the rumoured Real Madrid transfers. The Enrique signing was a bosman! ?

What does this all mean? Is the club simply taking stock of it's current resource of players and allowing a badly needed settling in period? Let's face it, in my opinion the club has made far too many "unnecessary" and bad signings over the last few years? Bogarde? Zenden maybe? I am still not sold on Gronk either? Too many big players underperforming? What do you think? We are in this together. This is our club and our clubs credibility is at stake! Please let me know how you feel, and what you believe is the current state of affairs. Email me at stevefurlong@chelsea-mad.co.uk. How can we resolve this situation?

Am I simply overreacting? Has England's defeat and the depression that followed it scrambled my mental processes? Is this simply Chelsea's way?

Let me know.............and someone please help support "my fragile little mind".
