Chelsea to Complete €15m Mario Pasalic Sale to Atalanta This Summer

Croatia international Mario Pašalić will complete a €15m move away from parent club Chelsea at the end of the season - six years after moving to west London from Hajduk Split.

The 25-year-old hasn't made a single senior appearance for Chelsea during his six-year spell on the books at Stamford Bridge, instead spending time out on loan with Elche, Monaco, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and most recently Atalanta.

Pašalić is currently three-quarters of the way through a two-year loan in Bergamo and was due to return to Chelsea at the end of the season, but Fabrizio Romano reports he will join Atalanta permanently for €15m this summer.

The German-born midfielder has made 70 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 14 goals - including one against AS Roma this weekend, just 19 seconds after coming on as a substitute - and getting nine assists.

Pašalić did have a contract with Chelsea until 2022.

The 25-year-old was among a group of players who have been frequently loaned out by Chelsea over the last few years, having been brought to the club at a young age but given no path into the first team.

Players like Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina have already secured permanent moves away from Chelsea for first team football abroad, but the likes of Nathan, Lucas Piazón, Lewis Baker and Charly Musonda still have contracts at Stamford Bridge.

But Pašalić looks set to finally complete a permanent move away from the club at the end of the season as Atalanta prepare to activate their option to buy the midfielder for €15m.

Chelsea initially signed Pašalić from Hajduk Split for €2.5m in 2014 and he was loaned out immediately to Elche in Spain.

During his entire six-year spell at the club, Pašalić has not been given a single senior appearance and the only time he's stepped onto the pitch as a Chelsea player was during a pre-season friendly against Perth Glory.
