Chelsea Reject £10m Offer For Jimmy??

The Catalan club, under new coach Louis Van Gaal have also offered their Dutch international defender Michael Reiziger in a player-plus-cash deal for the striker.

Speculation surrounding the futures of Jimmy and Eidur Gudjohnsen have circulated the club in the past few weeks, fuelled it seems, by Chelsea’s current financial difficulties.

Supposedly, Ranieri has been told by new managing director Trevor Birch that his star striker would be sacrificed if the club received a suitable offer to reduce the clubs debts.

This "suitable offer" is believed to be £20m, £20m possibly being a figure designed to out price the player from the market? A price just a price to far? Maybe?

Van Gaal has apparently earmarked Hasselbaink as the man to team up with his international counterpart Patrik Kluivert in all Dutch frontline but whether Chelsea are prepared to release him remains to be seen?

Personally, I don’t believe Jimmy (or Eidur) will be going anywhere………unless Chelsea are dangled a very large carrot?

In conclusion: It’s all media speculation pure and simple. Speculation fuelled by Chelsea’s "new realism" and financial question marks. I’m sure many clubs are eyeing the situation very closely, players such as JFH, Eidur, Gallas et al I’m sure are all very appealing.

Let’s not get over concerned and fretful, let’s just sit, wait, and hope that come the start of next season, we still have those players essential to this club’s future and success.
