Chelsea Plot Hakim Ziyech Move & Ponder Jeremie Boga Return in £150m Summer Spend

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is already planning ahead for the summer transfer window, with the Blues eyeing a move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech, while also contemplating a Stamford Bridge return for winger Jeremie Boga.

The west London club failed to make any signings in the winter window, despite successfully appealing a transfer ban that had originally prohibited them from strengthening their squad in January.

Lampard is now looking towards the summer to revitalise his side, and The Telegraph reports that Moroccan creative star Ziyech is on the club's radar, as the Blues prepare to spend in the region of £150m on new recruits.

The 26-year-old has excelled for Ajax in the Champions League in recent seasons, helping the Dutch side to reach the semi-final last year, only to suffer heartbreak in the final minutes against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ziyech was a target for Chelsea in January, but Ajax were determined to hang on to their star winger, after he signed a new contract with the club in August. But the Eredivisie champions are resigned to losing him in the summer, as they accept it will be much harder to convince him to stay in Holland for another year.

Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho is another long-term target for the Premier League side, but his signing would command a huge transfer fee of over £100m, which would certainly leave the Blues short of cash to strengthen in other areas.

Jeremie Boga

The Express reports that Chelsea may look to a much cheaper and more viable alternative to reinforce their wide areas, by triggering the £12.7m buy-back clause of Sassuolo star Boga.

The tricky winger left Stamford Bridge to join the Italian club in 2018 for a fee of only £3.5m, and he has been in terrific form this season, bagging seven goals in 22 games for I Neroverdi. Talks have taken place between the two clubs over the 23-year-old's future, and the Sassuolo president has confirmed that a deal may be made in the summer for the Frenchman.
