Chelsea have confirmed they have finalised the agreement to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner this summer.
The Blues informed Leipzig of their willingness to trigger Werner's release clause and reached an agreement over personal terms with the German fairly quickly, and it then became a question of waiting for the deal to be made official.
Well, the wait is finally over as Chelsea took to their official website to confirm they have completed the signing and Werner will head to Stamford Bridge as soon as the Bundesliga season is over, having informed Leipzig that he does not wish to play in the club's remaining Champions League games during the summer.
There's now no chance of Werner changing his mind and heading to Liverpool, Inter or anyone else. He has put pen to paper on a contract, so everyone can stop bothering poor Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club," Werner said. "I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart.
"I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us."
Director Marina Granovskaia added: "We are very excited that Timo Werner has chosen to join Chelsea. He is a player who was coveted all over Europe and it is no surprise, he has that rare mix of being young and exciting and yet established and proven. We can’t wait to have Timo on board, but until then we wish him and RB Leipzig all the best for the rest of this season."
According to The Telegraph, Werner has agreed to a five-year deal with around £170,000-a-week following impressive talks with Frank Lampard and Petr Čech.
On Wednesday, he bagged his first goal since news of his imminent switch to Chelsea became public, firing home in his side's 2-2 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf to take his tally for the season to 32 goals in all competitions.
He will become the Blues' second signing of the summer, following Ajax star Hakim Ziyech in agreeing a transfer, and Chelsea hope to follow those up with a deal for at least one of Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz and Leicester City's Ben Chilwell.
