Chelsea and Barcelona are monitoring Kingsley Coman's contract situation at Bayern Munich, with talks currently at an impasse.
The winger has been in dazzling form this season when he's played, but while that is not necessarily reflected in his return of two goals and one assist in all competitions so far, the 25-year-old has already had spells out following a knock and heart surgery.
Coman's current contract is due to expire in 2023 and talks over a new deal have stalled over his wage demands. The France international wants to double his salary from €10m to €20m per year, but the Bavarian giants have so far only offered around €13m, according to Bild.
As a result, Coman's representatives are believed to be considering the option of running down his contract at the Allianz Arena, with a view to sealing a free transfer and big-money contract elsewhere in 18 months' time.
Chelsea and Barcelona have been alerted to the situation and the possibility of capturing a world-class player for a cut-price fee or for free in 2023.
Bild claim Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic will be under pressure to secure a transfer fee for the winger rather than lose him for nothing, amid the difficult financial climate of the coronavirus pandemic. A €55m fee is considered the worst-case scenario as his contract ticks down.
There are parallels with David Alaba's recent departure from Die Roten, which followed a breakdown in contract talks in 2020 due to perceived excessive wage demands.
The Austrian eventually joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer when Bayern could have commanded a transfer fee a year previously.
Salihamidzic is not known for bringing in large transfer fees, generating just €160m in player sales since assuming his role in August 2017.
Despite being just 25, Coman has won the league in every year of his professional career so far during his time with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern - that incorporates two Ligue 1 crowns, a Scudetto and six Bundesliga titles.
