Chelsea 0-0 Juventus: Player ratings as Blues frustrated in Women's Champions League

Chelsea missed the chance to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the Women's Champions League as they were held to a goalless draw by Juventus - despite dominating the fixture at Kingsmeadow.

The hosts controlled the first half, hitting the woodwork twice as Juve frustrated them with a low block and some rugged defending.

Erin Cuthbert went close first, slamming an effort from the edge of the box which visiting goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin juggled onto the bar, before Sam Kerr saw a floated cross drift onto the top of the woodwork.

Peyraud-Magnin pulled off a number of impressive stops throughout the game, with one which saw her tip a long distance effort from Millie Bright round the post particularly brilliant.

The game was essentially an attack vs defence exercise, with Chelsea camped out in Juve's half with the visitors offering little threat.

A winner could not be found, with Bright again going close from inside the area after an idiotic pitch invader had to be dealt with as the game approached its conclusion.

The result means Chelsea travel to Wolfsburg for their final game in Group A with 11 points, three clear of both Juve and the German side but needing a result away from home to be certain of their progression in the competition.

Chelsea player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Ann-Katrin Berger (GK) - 6/10 - Was only called into action for the first time on the night after an hour's play, comfortably dealing with Hurtig's strike. Great sliding tackle on Bonansea but got herself booked for the ensuing disagreement.

Millie Bright (CB) - 7/10 - Looked to have opened the scoring with a thunderbolt, only for Peyraud-Magnin to make a sprawling save. Played some awesome diagonal passes out wide.

Jessica Carter (CB) - 6/10 - Had one iffy moment when looking to guide the ball out of play, only for Bonansea to nick in ahead of her.

Magdalena Eriksson (CB) - 6/10 - Had to deal with a pitch invader trying to get a picture with her. Dealt with Juve's attacking threats well enough.

2. Midfielders & wing backs

Erin Cuthbert (RWB) - 7/10 - Looked bright particularly in the early stages and hit the crossbar with the first chance of the game.

Sophie Ingle (CM) - 6/10 - Wasn't shy of an effort from distance, but couldn't test Peyraud-Magnin that much.

Ji So-yun (CM) - 5/10 - Got wiped out going for a header in the box, but got nothing for it.

Guro Reiten (LWB) - 6/10 - Saw a shot dealt with by Peyraud-Magnin. Went close soon after but was denied again.

3. Forwards

Pernille Harder (RW)- 6/10 - Made her return to the starting lineup. Had a decent shooting opportunity but saw it deflect off a defender's boot. Building up fitness so wasn't at her most electric, but a decent shift nonetheless.

Sam Kerr (ST) - 6/10 - Saw her cross hit the top of the bar, while she combined nicely with Kirby throughout. Had the ball in the back of the net but had it disallowed due to offside.

Fran Kirby (LW) - 6/10 - Linked up well with Kerr and set her up for what appeared to be the opener, but it was offside. Some lovely passes throughout.

Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (GK) - 9/10 - Tipped Cuthbert's strike onto the bar. Was the only reason Juve were level at half time, coming up some extraordinary stops. Quieter second half but brilliant all in all.

Matilde Lundorf (RB) - 8/10 - Great clearance in the box to stop a certain goal. Just like the rest of Juve's defenders, she was brilliant.

Martina Lenzini (CB) - 7/10 - Fell over and gifted Kerr the chance to go through on goal, luckily getting away with it. Aside from that error, was good throughout.

Cecilia Salvai (CB) - 8/10 - Made some excellent clearing headers throughout and intervened to stop Kerr converting with a great block.

Lisa Boattin (LB) - 8/10 - Had a tough job with Cuthbert but made some important blocks.

6. Midfielders

Martina Rosucci (CM) - 6/10 - Couldn't always stop Chelsea's midfield from finding paths through and in behind. Worked hard.

Sofie Junge (CM) - 5/10 - Did well as Juventus stifled their hosts. Not too many moments of quality going forward.

Annahita Zamanian (CM) - 6/10 - Got through a lot of running before being brought off.

7. Forwards

Barbara Bonansea (RW) - 6/10 - Had Juve's first chance, seeing her shot blocked. Good persistence to steal the ball off Carter, but overran the ball. Kicked out at Cuthbert and got into a scuffle with Berger, getting booked for the incident.

Cristiana Girelli (ST) - 5/10 - Needed some medical treatment after being whacked by Reiten.

Lina Hurtig (LW) - 5/10 - Went down injured during one of the visitors' rare trips forward in the first half. Gently tested Berger just over an hour into proceedings.
