Carlo Ancelotti was delighted to see his Premier League champions complete an historic Double by defeating Portsmouth 1-0 at Wembley.

The Italian said: “I’m very happy and it’s my first time in England.

“I am lucky - I have had a very good career with clubs, and I’m happy to work at Chelsea.

“There is a fantastic atmosphere here and so I want to thank everyone I worked with this year.”

With the Oscar speech out of the way, Ancelotti went on to talk about the game.

“It was strange to hit the post five times in one half, “he admitted.

“I’ve never experienced five posts in one half in my career but we maintained our composure.

“And it was also strange to save a penalty – that was a key moment.

“Had Portsmouth gone one up it would be more difficult - then [Petr] Cech makes a great save.

“The second half was not in our control, at the beginning - but I was not worried – the team were playing well.

“We had a lot of chances, we wanted to stay focused.”

Asked about the controversial state of the Wembley turf, Ancelotti said: “The pitch in the semi [final], the pitch was slippery - today it was different, but we did not slide as much.”

When asked how he would celebrate the victory, Ancelotti, kind of misheard: “I will follow my players – but some will go to the World Cup and others on holiday.

“But now I will focus on next season.

“We did not win the Champions League season but are happy with our trophies.

“We hope Ballack is fit for the World Cup.”

Chelsea-Mad can confirm that Ballack left Wembley with a cast on his injured ankle and will have a scan tomorrow, but the Chelsea medical team say, he will be fit for the World cup.

Ancelotti had a word of praise for his cup-winning striker: “Didier Drogba finished this season how he started –scoring goals,” said Ancelotti.

Looking forward to next season, he added that pressure will be high: “Pressure is normal – we will start next season as double winners that will put more pressure and attention on us. But we are proud of the attention.

“My job is to the best. To help my team. We are happy to win and win next year – that is the most important thing.

“I always knew I had a fantastic player and experience when I arrived at Stamford Bridge.

“I had on my hands a good squad – and everyone gave the best.

“When we had diffuclt moments we were able to move on quickly.

“This team has never won the Champions league.

“But it has the quality to win the Champions League next season without making any changes.

“I did not have too many problems this year.

“I could count on the support of the owner and players – but this is not so difficult to manage.

Asked how the owner reacted to the win, Ancelotti said: “Roman has taken a second to say thanks to me.

“We will celebrate this victory together – everyone did their bit to win the double.”

I’m sure Carlo means you, the Chelsea-Mad fans too.
