Brendan Rodgers Insists Chelsea & Man City Target Ben Chilwell Is Committed to Leicester

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers says Ben Chilwell is focused on the rest of the reason, despite admitting he is aware of the left back's situation regarding interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.

Chilwell is rated as one of the world's most valuable full backs and 90min revealed earlier in June that both Chelsea and City see him as a viable option to solve their problems on the left flank. Frank Lampard seems unconvinced on both Marcos Alonso and Emerson, while Pep Guardiola has not managed to get the full worth of £52m signing Benjamin Mendy.

23-year-old Chiwell has become a senior England international during his time at the King Power Stadium, where he graduated through Leicester's youth set-up and has since played 118 times for the first team.

In his latest press conference as reported by the Leicester Mercury, Rodgers remained confident about Chilwell's priorities as his side approach the home straight of the league season.

He said: "I've been in [football] long enough to understand the game and where it's at for players. All you can ever do is create an environment where players will feel they can improve and develop, and enjoy their football.

"I also recognise players may well look beyond Leicester City. But, I've never felt that with Ben.

Rodgers has been impressed by Chilwell's professionalism

"He's a huge talent and for me he can be one of the world's best left-backs. He's understanding here what it takes every single day, not just on a game day, and what it takes to be an elite player in terms of lifestyle and professionalism. I can only see him getting better.

"He can get that here at Leicester, of course. I think he's shown that, particularly this season.

"I can say that, but of course players and agents may well have other ambitions for players. That's not something you can always control.

Chilwell has emerged as England's first choice left back

"We still want to finish the season strongly and he is very committed and focused on doing that. Then we'll see what the summer brings, but here at the club we're all relaxed about it."

The Foxes travel to Watford for their first fixture since the return of football. They will face the Hornets in Saturday's early kick off.
