Blues up for Anfield Test: Melchiot

Chelsea, who meet Liverpool this Sunday, have won their last four games and Melchiot said: “As long as we don't allow ourselves to get carried away by recent results, we feel confident of continuing our winning run at anfield this Sunday.

“It is such an important match for Chelsea so I'd say it's been a great advantage for us to prepare all week for it, without having to play a midweek game- unlike Liverpool of course, who had a great win over Roma on Tuesday night.

“It will be very tough because Liverpool are on a great run right now, just like us, and when two in-form teams meet each other it's impossible to predict a result.

“We may have won our past three matches 4-0 but we aren't stupid enough not to realise that Liverpool away from home is a totally different matter altogether.”

Melchiot went on to add, “Yes, we beat them 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in December but winning by that same scoreline away from home is much more difficult. Having said that, we feel good and are confident of winning there, even if it's not by four goals!

“I know all about the tradition of Anfield, but it doesn't scare me. I've played there lots of times now so it doesn't bother me, in fact, I really like playing at Anfield because I think they have great fans. There is always a big atmosphere and that tends to make the games even tougher and more exciting.”

Melchiot even thinks that the Anfield crowd could witness Liverpool winning the league this year, “While Chelsea are still chasing a Champions League place, Liverpool are going for the title itself and I think that they are good enough to win it.
