Baggio - Talks To Be Resumed In January

The former Italy international and current Lazio midfielder wanted to make a summer move to Chelsea, according to a spokesman for the Italian's agent.

Despite Chelsea's official denial, Baggio was constantly linked with a loan move and player exchange to Stamford Bridge over the summer months, but with the transfer window now closed, there is no chance of a move being rekindled until January at least.

Despite the best efforts of both clubs the move failed, but a source close to the player has stated that he is still interested in a move to West London.

"Dino Baggio would have happily joined Chelsea, but problems popped up that were put of our hands - despite the good will of the London club and Lazio," the source said.

"He cannot move to the Premiership in September because the transfer window only applies to the domestic market, but in January the Chelsea talks can be resumed."

It has been said that the deal may have originally collapsed because Lazio's finances are in such a state that their creditors must approve any deal and three transfers have already been prevented.

Either way, there is certainly movement at Chelsea and I'm sure that we may see a number of moves both in out and out come the new year.
