Player Ratings: Scunthorpe (h) FA Cup 3rd Round

Last updated : 09 January 2005 By Liam Corbett
Carlo Cudicini - Got nutmegged for the goal but pulled off one or two impressive saves there-after. 6

Glen Johnson - Made a couple of powerful surges forward but didn't really produce anything. Switched to centre back later on and did well. 7

Steven Watt - A solid debut for the youngster, looked more composed as the game wore on. 8

Alexey Smertin - Turned too easy for the goal and doesn't look like a centre half. His expierence should've helped Watt, but it turned out Watt was helping Smertin more. 6

Nuno Morais - Did very well considering he is by no means a full back or even left footed! Not the way he would've planned his debut but he did well, putting in a couple of nice crosses for Drogba, and worked well with Cole on the left. 7

Geremi - Wouldn't look out of place playing for Scunthorpe every week in their league. £5 million to 'Boro? We'd be lucky to get £1 million on this showing. Square passing, and didn't even do that well. 4

Joe Cole - Got man of the match, but was in truth the best of a bad bunch! Made 3 or 4 nice runs forward but his passing and shooting sometimes let him down. 7

Tiago - Did he play? Apparently so according to the papers. Might as well have not shown up. 5

Mateja Kezman - Nice to see him score again and his movement is very good, just needs a couple of breaks. Got injured later on and was subbed. 7

Didier Drogba - Unlucky with a spectacular first half effort curled towards the corner and set up the first for Kez with a nice knock down. Not even he could claim the second as his cross was turned in! Subbed late on too. 7

Eidur Gudjohnsen - His only worthwhile contribution was his goal with 4 m inutes left. He played a good ball in for Drogba to knock bakc for Kez's goal but really didn't look comfortable in such a deep role. He can maybe drop off another striker but he's no midfielder. Ah well, 10 goals for the season now for Eidur. 6
