Player Ratings - Watford (h)

Last updated : 15 January 2004 By Liam Corbett
Cudicini - Again very hard to rate as he had little to do. Got away with a couple of howlers that a Premiership team may have punished him for. 6

Melchiot - Super Mario was not so super, as reliable. Nothing special going forward or back, but did make a couple of vital blocks. 6

Terry - Captain again in Marcel's absense, and took over the position of the Rock. Showed some un-seen before silky skills going forward and commanded the back line superbly. 8

Gallas - With Watford palying one striker and John Terry dealing with him most of the time, Gallas enjoyed a comfortable night, rarely put under any pressure. 7

Babayaro - Got forward well and seems to be getting an understanding with Cole on the left, as Cole tends to drift in field creating space for Baba to progress forward. 7

Gronkjaer - Un fair to rate as he didn't play - oh - well, according to my paper he did play! 5 then!

Lampard - Not 100% of his quality was shown, but played a few lovely passes for Baba, Gronkjaer (which he wasted I'm sure) and the strikers. 7
Makelele - Won some tough tackles in midfield and spread play well, playing as the 'anchor' behind Lampard. 7

Cole - Sometimes looks un comfortable on the left, but still managed to contribute to the play from there. Would like to see him on the right though, with Duff on the left. (So who would that mean replacing, hmmm, Gronkjaer may be)

J-Flo Hasselbaink - Great goal, terrific movementand created space for Mutu well and also capitalised when Mutu did the same for him. Deserved his goal. 8

Mutu - Fantastic all round striker. Linked terrifically well with Jimmy, however we must remember it was a pretty attrocious Watford defence. Took both his goals well and looks like he's found that scoring touch again! 9
