WBA 1 Chelsea 3

Poor old Fernando Torres.

Relegated to the subs' bench and unlucky not to get a penalty, the Spanish international had just 8 minutes to get the perverbial monkey off his back - and he failed once again.

But it was Didier Drogba who did most of the damage as the Blues won comfortably 1-3 at the Hawthorns to go to within eight points of leaders Manchester United.

But the Blues had to come from a goal down from Peter Odemwingie's early strike.
Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Frank Lampard reponded with first half goals to seal all  three points.

In truth, Albion, undefeated under boss Roy Hodgson were poor while Chelsea, with no silverware to chase this season, looked relaxed and carefree.

This was the type of performance that brought the Double last season - a case of too little too late for the Londoners.

It would appear that the stress for success was just too much for this group of players.

Whoever is in charge next season will need to find a way to get the players to unwind on the pitch and play to their potential.

Next up for the Blues is Birmingham City, on Wedesday, at Stamford Bridge - kick-off 7.45pm
