Chelsea remain unbeaten and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League winning a sensational six-goal thriller at White Hart Lane.

Goals from Gary Cahill, a brace from Juan Mata and a tap in by sub Daniel Sturridge sealed all three points after the Blues first went ahead, then behind to goals from William Gallas and Jermain Defoe.

It was an end to end derby of the old days as both sides were desperate to win. Chelsea's win is their first her since 2005.

William Gallas had a fine chance to open the scoring for Spurs on four minutes, but he failed to connect with a left footed volley from six yards out from a clever, clipped Gylfi Sigurdsson free kick.

The visitors settled quickest into. Game and Brazil midfielder Oscar tried his luck from 25 yards bi he sliced the effort slightly wide of Brad Friedel's left upright.

Sandro responded in kind a minute later but his effort went high and wide of skipper Petr Cech's crossbar.

But it was the league leader who drew first blood, and it was a sensational effort from centre-back Gary Cahill.

With the clock turning onto the 17th minutes, Eden Hazard sent in a deep corner. The ball was headed to the edge of Spurs' penalty area by ex-Blue William Gallas. Up popped

Cahill to drill home the perfect felt right-foot volley through a sea of plays and into the back of the net.

Cech the spilled a Jermain Defoe shot a minute later, but Ashley Cole was alive to the dang and cleared.

Branislav Ivanovic went into Mike Dean's book protesting too vigorously that he was fouled when clearly I he wasn't.

Spurs produced their best spell of the game resulting in Sigurdsson, just screwing a shot wide of goal on 30 minutes.

Juan Mata should have notched up number two with six minutes of the first half remaining.

Following another quick counter-attack, the Spain midfielder unleashed a left footed drive which Friedel did well to party back not play. Mata followed up but inexcusably flashed the ball over the cross bar with the goal gaping.

Gallas was the first home side player to get a yellow when he mistimes a challenge on Torres.

This was added to with Kyle Walker upending Ramires deep into added time. The score was evened up seconds late when Ramires got his yellow.

Spurs's second half got off to pa flyer and they were level with a minute.

A Tom Huddlestone free-kick was clipped back across Chelsea's goal by Jan Vertonghen and Gallas had the simple task of nodding the ball over the line from inches out.

Sigurdsson forced a fine save from Cech a minute later as Spurs threatened to go on an attacking rampage.

Vertonghen was next in line, arrowing a fierce right-footer, thankfully for the visitors the ball went into Cech's midriff.

But Chelsea, unbeaten this season crumbled in defence on 54 minutes when Aaron Lennon raced through before slide footing the ball to the right boot of Defoe, who dispatched a quick right footer past Cech from eight yards out.

Chelsea had a shout for a penalty turned down on 63 minutes when Vertonghen appeared to pushed over Torres in the penalty area. Bur Dean waved on much to the annoyance of the Spain hit man.

With Spurs unable to continue to pressure, the Blues restored parity on 65 minutes.

Again Gallas failed to clear properly and mata of the edge of e area, cooly sloshed a low left footer past Friedel.

Sensationally the game turned once again three minutes later when Mata notched up his second.

Feeding off a clever Oscar through ball, Mata outpaced the Spurs rearguard and slotted home a clipped law footer past a prone Friedel to put Chelsea 2-3 up. Deep into added time theBlues completed the perfect day for them by not hing up number 4. Man of the match Mata won the ball, wide on the left, raced into the area before crossing a byline pass to the waiting sub Daniel Sturridge who tucked home unmarked at the far post.
