Five second half goals by Chelsea put pay to Leeds United's gallant effort at Elland Road tonight in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup.

The five-one trouncing of the Championship side mean the Blues now face Swansea Ciry in the two-leg semi-final.

But the Blues were in trouble in the first half and were a goal down at The break.

But 60 seconds into the restart  saw Juan Mata slot home from the edge of the Leeds penalty area.

Further goals from Branislav Ivanovic - a powerful near-post header, Victor Moses, a fierce 20-yard drive, Eden Hazard, cooly tucking the ball away and a simple tap-in by Fernando Torres sealed the comeback in some style.

Luciano Becchio opened the scoring for the home side on  37 minutes giving rise to the possibility of an upset.

But the  Londoners, who had arrived back in London on Monday from their  trip to Japan, had too much class for their Yorkshire rivals.
