Cudicini saved his third penalty of the season towards the end of the first half from Marcus Bent. The Italian also made several key saves throughout the match, leaving Ipswich struggling to beat the drop and giving Chelsea a fighting chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

The match was played at a slow tempo for the majority, with both sides looking sluggish. Cudicini was the clear man of the match for his vital saves from the penalty and also a powerful free kick from Matt Holland. Chelsea's best chances fell to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, mostly fom long range, but Cudicini's opposite number Andy Marshall also made some crucial saves.

The draw didn't really help either side but it didn't hinder their chances in the league either.
