Carlo Cudicini- Will he have many easier games this season?? Hardly had a touch but, seeing as he kept a clean sheet, I can hardly give him a bad score for that. 8 (out of 10)

Mario Melchiot- Solid performance from Mario, both defensively and offensively. Kept Quinton Fortune quiet all game and very nearly scored a goal himself in the first half. 8

John Terry- "You see this? In my pocket?? That's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Deigo Forlan!" Nuff said! 9

William Gallas- See above. 9

Wayne Bridge- Solid performance from Bridge, played Ryan Giggs very well. Looked a bit flustered when fake Ronaldo came on, but kept his composure well. 8

Joe Cole- Ran his little heart out, won the penalty that settled the game and showed some nice touches. Probably a bit disappointed to give way for Duff so early in the second half, but fresh legs were the order of the day! 7

Claude Makelele- "He is the battery in my watch" said Claudio Ranieri after signing Claude Makelele. Well, the battery was keeping the watch ticking all game long. Someone please tell me- has Claude put a foot wrong in a Chelsea shirt?? Pure class! 9 (Man of the Match)

Frank Lampard- He and John Terry personify what this Chelsea side is all about. Another great performance from Frank, including the goal that won the game. Frank must have covered every blade of grass on the pitch and his passing was as accurate as ever. 9

Geremi- I'm yet to be convinced by Geremi. Started the game poorly, played ok in the middle part of the game, and then finished the game poorly. And he was late getting out for the second half, after having his boots cleaned, or something!! 7

Hernan Crespo- Does Hernan do anything apart from score goals? Certainly not one of his better days, barely had a sniff at goal. 6

Adrian Mutu- Must be an absolute nightmare to play against! He runs about like a little kid who has eaten too much sherbet, he just seems to have so much energy and enthusiasm for the game! A joy to watch. 8
