Player Ratings- Blackburn Rovers (h)

Carlo Cudicini- Nothing the Italian could have done about Andy Cole's sucker punch after 20 seconds of the match. Made a couple of decent saves throughout the match. However, in the space of a minute in the second half Carlo showed his best and worst side. Firstly, he acrobatically turned away a David Thompson free kick. Then, from the resulting corner, he completely missed his punch, allowing Andy Cole to score. 7 (out of 10)

Glen Johnson
- Another solid game for the youngster. Regularly charged forward, did his job at the back- what more can you ask for?? Only ever looked shaky when all around him lost their heads! 8

Marcel Desailly- What was he thinking, keeping that ball in play for Blackburn's opener? The Rock let us down for that goal but, after a dodgy 20 minutes, he and JT were soon back to their best. 7

John Terry- JT never ceases to amaze me. He is so strong at the back and, combined with great composure, you have a top class defender. If he keeps improving at this rate it will surely hasten Marcel Desailly's retirement party... 8

Wayne Bridge- Decent enough display. Like Johnson, he gave us another option in attack and he rarely looked troubled at the back. 7

Damien Duff- Duffman was never at the races today. He showed flashes of brilliance but his touch seemed to let him down far too often. However, he is such a dangerous player that I was surprised to see him replaced at half time for Manu Petit. 6

Frank Lampard- Another assured performance by Frank. Like JT, he never ceases to amaze me. Played a wonderful ball through to Mutu for his goal and, in general, his passing was top class. Surely a certainty to start for England next week?? 8

Seba Veron- For the third match running, Seba saw a good first half performance ruined by a pretty ineffective second. His long range passing was as near perfect as you can get. He also continues to show neat touches to create chances for others. Quite clearly needs to play in the middle of the park though as he seems lost out wide when Claudio sends him out there. 7

Geremi- You can see why Claudio Ranieri had been tracking him for three years! He is always composed on the ball, his passing is pin point, he gets stuck in to challenges and he can go past players when played out wide. He showed all of these characteristcs at some stage today. 8

Adrian Mutu- The new hero of Stamford Bridge. Took his goal superbly, should have been his second after the linesman wrongly ruled out his goal earlier in the first half. In general his play was electrifying- he made things happen. Blackburn must have been delighted to see him go off with 15 minutes to go! Even though Crespo was replacing him! 9

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink- Jimmy got a lot of stick from the crowd but I thought he had a pretty decent game. He took his penalty superbly and looked a pretty good foil for Mutu. Yes, he's not the player he once was, but he's scoring goals again- just like the old Jimmy. 7
