Three resume Chelsea shirt sponsorship deal following takeover

Mobile network Three have confirmed that they are resuming their Chelsea sponsorship activities following Todd Boehly's takeover of the club.

The telecommunications company paused their support of the west London club in March, after the UK government imposed sanctions on previous Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Three's statement at the time read: "In light of the government's recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice.

"We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanctions that is in place, it is the right thing to do."

However, with Boehly's takeover of the club finally being confirmed at the end of last month, Three feel the time is right to resume their sponsorship of Chelsea, with the club confirming the news on their website on Thursday.

John Rogers, Chelsea head of global partnerships, said: "Following the recent pause in their activities, the Club is pleased to have resumed our work with Three and we look forward with excitement to the start of the new season, together.

"We would like to thank all Club partners for their support now and in the future."
