The 2021 Ballon d'Or rankings in full

Lionel Messi lifted his seventh Ballon d'Or on Monday evening, receiving a whopping 613 votes.

Voters were asked to name their top five candidates to win the Ballon d'Or, with each player on their shortlist awarded 6, 4, 3, 2 or 1 point respectively.

Messi sat atop the standings with over 600, leaving him clear of second-placed Robert Lewandowski, who landed a more-than-respectable tally of 580.

In third came Chelsea's Jorginho who, with 460 points, was on an island of his own, ahead of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema (239) and fellow Frenchman N'Golo Kante (186) in fourth and fifth.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United landed in sixth place with 178, finishing comfortably ahead of the only other player to break the 100 mark, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah (121).

Rounding out the top ten were Kevin De Bruyne (73), Kylian Mbappe (58) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (36)

At the other end of the list tied for 29th, Luka Modric and Cesar Azpilicueta failed to pick up a single vote each.
