Sir Alex: You won't win quadruple

Sir Alex Ferguson, the veteran manager of Manchester United has told Chelsea that they will not win all four major trophies this season.

In some sort of ham-fisted attempt to undermine the Premiership leaders, who they face tonight in the Carling Cup semi-final 1st leg, Fergie has spoken out about how impossible it will be for Chelsea to win the Premiership, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions league - all in one season.

Bearing in mind that Chelsea have never said they would win all the gongs, Fergie's comment seems something of an irrelevance.

United are in the hunt for all four themselves, but being 11 points behind the Blues in the league may preclude them from obtaining footballing history.
They famously did the treble of League, Champions League and FA Cup in 1999.

Fergie said: "There's no chance of a club doing a quadruple," said Ferguson.
"A treble is more feasible. But it is still very difficult to think that will be done again.

"When we did the treble, we had only Henning Berg injured.
"You need a hell of a good squad and your main players have to be fit all the time."

Chelsea have one hell of a good squad, Mr Ferguson.
