Romelu Lukaku 'angered' by rumours of Chelsea exit

Romelu Lukaku is claimed to be furious at recent reports suggesting he is ready to cut his wages to seal a quick exit from Chelsea.

Lukaku has struggled to settle back in England, with mixed form on the pitch and an infamous interview with Italian media contributing to a general feeling of malaise for the Belgian, who has found himself out of Thomas Tuchel's lineup in recent weeks.

Rumours about Lukaku's future have been rife for a while now and stepped up on Saturday with claims from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggesting the striker has been speaking to former club Inter and has already promised to cut his wages to facilitate a transfer.

The story was quickly dismissed by a number of English outlets, and now The Telegraph have gone one step further by revealing that Lukaku has been angered by the speculation.

In fact, the stories are said to have 'appalled' Lukaku, who has called on Chelsea to stick together during a period of severe uncertainty off the pitch.

Roman Abramovich has been dismissed as a director of the club and buyers have been invited to make proposals to the UK government after the Russian agreed to proceed with a sale that would not see him earn a penny.

Lukaku is not believed to be concerned by the situation and is unimpressed that he is being made to look as though he is exploiting the uncertainty to seal his transfer away.

He plans to stay and fight for his position under Tuchel, having previously stressed his desire to ensure his second spell at Chelsea is more successful than his first.

In addition to the Inter gossip in Italy, Lukaku has also been named on a Spanish list of striker options for Barcelona should they miss out on primary target Erling Haaland this summer.
