It's that time of year again, the festive fixture period is coming to an end and the January transfer window is now upon us. Some managers will desperately be looking to bring in new faces as they try to freshen up their squads, while others will be hoping they can keep hold of their star players that have caught the eye of England's biggest clubs.
An inspired January signing can be the difference between relegation and top flight survival, or if you're looking a bit further up the Premier League table it can be the difference between title glory and that oh so close second place. Traditionally, though, the winter transfer period is never as busy as it's summer counterpart, with 'only' ?925 million being spent in January compared to the ?3.685 billion shelled out July and August over the past 10 years in England. But with the new ?3 billion TV rights deal starting in July, Premier League clubs have a clear vision of their income for the next three years and will be looking to spend some of that cash in an effort to mix it with the big boys of the English top flight.
